If a population was starting to diminish, the testing would stop (potentially look at another animal to use) until we could repopulate it. The animals mostly used in testing are not in short supply, and they are always dealt with humanly.
No way that is going to happen. Firstly the animals used in testing are not captured from the nature. They are breed in a controlled environment specifically for the purposes of research. You can think about how we use fruits/vegetables? They are grown for us to eat. Thus the use of animals does not affect the nature’s cycle in any sense. The regulations to do such breeding is very strict and the animals are housed and kept very very very well and healthy.
