• Question: Is plasma a state of matter? If so what are its properties?

      yes plasma is one of the fundamental states of mater.

      The definition of a plasma is Debye length.. which I can’t really remember what that is!

      Yes! It is a highly ionised gas, like you’d get near the surface of the sun. I didn’t actually do any plasma physics at university so not much help sorry 🙁

      Yes it is! I think Paul’s right in saying it’s the stuff you get near the surface of the sun. The opposite of plasma is Bose Einstein condensate. Please don’t ask me what this is! I have a rough idea because it’s been in the news lately, but don’t trust myself to explain it.

      Plasma is a very complex state of matter. It’s made up high energy charged particles and they are at very high temperatures normally more than 100,000 C!
