I am trying to figure out why crystals form, so I am not interested in any particular type. However, some crystals grow very quickly and some very slowly, but some grow just quickly enough for us to look at what is happening. So when we find a type of crystal that grows at a good speed for us, and also behaves well during an experiment then we will start to look at that lots. So a few examples of crystals that I have worked with a lot are urea (long pointy needle shape), potassium chloride (small white cubes) and ammonium chloride (small fluffy white crystals – the picture on my profile page).

I hope that answers your question 🙂
