I work for a chemical company who tries to look after the environment. I have researched the best way to dispose of chemicals, as you don’t want to have bad chemicals going into the sea or drinking water. We actually have a treatment plant on the site full of special bugs (or bacteria) that EAT bad chemicals and turn them into safe ones.
I am starting a new job in a couple of weeks. In the new lab, we will be trying to design new solar panels. Most solar panels are made of silicon which are not very bendy, break easy, and are quite expensive. We want to make cheap and bendy solar panels for clothes – for example I could wear a rucksack that charges my phone, instead of relying on power stations that cause pollution.
If you are interested in the environment, you could look up environmental chemistry – these chemists do everything from testing water, to looking for radioactive waste around nuclear powerstations
