0 Question: How meny atoms are in a square metre made of paper Keywords: Royal Society of Chemistry: Find out more about: atom paper Asked by CREEPY704 to Elizabeth, James, Martin, Martin, Rob on 16 Mar 2015.
James Coombs OBrien answered on 16 Mar 2015:
There are about 100000000000000000000000 atoms in a normal piece of paper. So if you times that by 3 that is pretty much the size of a meter squared.
So that gives about 300000000000000000000000 atoms (that’s 23 zeroes!)
thanks!
Martin Ward answered on 18 Mar 2015:
As James says – there is a lot. We can make these sort of calculations based on something called Avogadros law 🙂
Elizabeth Cooper answered on 19 Mar 2015:
There is loads!
In a average human body this is around 7*10^27 atoms. That is: 7,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
I couldn’t tell you how many in a piece of paper but it will be less than this!
