        Hello!

I study Chemistry not Medicine. But a lot of the science we do can help medicine, for example making new drugs or creating new materials for hospital equipment.

Chemist are quite a lot similar to medical doctors, we both analyse things and try to understand problems. It’s just that we look at molecules and medical doctors look at people!

We tend to do the research that finds out what medicines to use and the medics use them to heal people.
        Thanks for asking!

I don’t, my research is the other side of chemistry from developing new drugs or treatments. However, part of science is learning lots about the bits of science you don’t work in so I’ve learned quite a lot about medical treatments and research by talking to my friends who do work in medicine.

Also, it’s useful to know a bit of medicine in-case you ever have an accident and need to know what to do.

I don’t, but my girlfriend does!
I hope to become a medicinal chemist one day, this is someone who mixes chemicals together to make new medicines. “Med” chemists talk to biologists who understand disease a lot better than us, a test the new drugs on cells. Mathematicians can use computers to see how the chemicals work when in the body, and to see if they cause any side effects. Engineers help make the medicine on a large scale. A doctor will chose what medicine to give to a patient after an examination.
So even if you didn’t want to become a doctor, there are many types of scientist that work together to help people get better.

No I do not study medicine however I think that would be a really interesting job. Scientists who study medicine are constantly thinking of ways to produce better medicines for when we are not well. They are constantly looking for cures for diseases.
