      Hi Ojay,

Krill are shrimp like animals that live in all the world’s oceans. They are invertebrates i.e. they don’t have a backbone like you and me but instead they have an exo-skeleton (outer skeleton) There are different species of krill. The one I work on is the Antarctic krill and lives in the southern Ocean (Antarctic Ocean). These are particularly important because they form the largest animal biomass on earth- estimated to be over 500 million tonnes! Also they are at the bottom of the food chain i.e. a lot of other animals like fish whales penguins sea birds etc. eat them. So if the krll numbers decline, as they are now. the life of all these animals is going to be badly affected.

Let me know if you would like to know more 🙂
