• Question: Global warming: Media/Science hype ( like the theory from the seventies that next the Ice Age was coming soon) or is it a genuine problem?

      It is a genuine problem. If anything the media tends to down play the evidence for global warming in an attempt to give a more “balanced” view. I;m not an expert on it myself, but almost any expert in the field would tell you that it really happening and that we need to take precautions.

      It’s a genuine problem but the question is: Are we (humans) partially responsible or is the increase in temperature just part of the natural cycle? If we are in any way responsible for the unprecedented rapid changes in earth’s temperature, then we’ve got to do something about it. On the other hand, if nothing we do makes a difference, then it’s somewhat pointless to worry about it.

      I think people are pretty happy to accept that the planet is getting warmer, but the debate lies in untangling the extent of the human contributions to the changes.

      There is enough scientific evidence to support that global warming is happening. It is a genuine problem that we have to do something about as a society.
