It has been suggested that he had mild Asperger’s syndrome (an autism-like condition) but no one knows for sure (he never volunteered to go to a psychiatrist).

No one is exactly sure how autism works, but it appears to be due to the brain “developing wrongly” or becoming “wired incorrectly”. Genetics seem to play a large role, but it isnt the same story. It affects a number fo things which can include motor skills (ability to keep balance and move steadily) and imparied social skills (they often find it hard to “relate” to people or put themselves in other peoples shoes).

They quite often find some areas that they have very little ability at, while being very talented in other areas. My brother-in-law has autism and, while he has almost no ability to see things from another persons point of view, he can sit down with a bus time-table and have memorised it entirely within a few minutes!
