people say a goldfish have a 3 second memory but how can they produce and lay eggs if they only have a 3 second memory

Question: people say a goldfish have a 3 second memory but how can they produce and lay eggs if they only have a 3 second memory because they would forget that they have layed eggs and do it all over again, so is it true goldfish only have a 3 second memory?

  Presumibly they don’t have to remember they’re pregnant – it just happens. I’m pretty sure the whole goldfish memory thing is a myth though.
