  The biggest reason is actually history – the inventors of the car, Daimler & Benz, made their first cars in Germany and eventually became Mercedes-Benz. Volkswagen & Porsche started in a similar way, but only after WW2.
  
  Germany has lots of resources that are important to make cars – space to build factories, a good school/education system to help people become engineers.

Question: why do most car manufacturers/people like to do their cars in germany?
