we make them by first producing catalysts (platinum nanoparticles decorated onto carbon), then mixing those catalysts with other ingredients to form an ink. That ink is then printed into a catalyst layer which is used as either the cathode or the anode of a Catalyst Coated Membrane (CCM). The CCM is then sandwiched between a few other layers to make a membrane electrode assembly. about 800 of these are then stacked up with gas flow channels in-between to make a hydrogen fuel cell
