• Question: Do you think people will start using hydrogen more than other gases once there is a way to generate it without CO2 also being produced, or do you believe people will stick to what they are familiar with? If so, do you have any ideas on how to convince people to make the change to hydrogen? If hydrogen does become the main gas we use, what impact is this going to have on the future atmosphere?

Absolutely – that is where the concept of “green hydrogen” or, more generally, the electrolysis of water, comes from. Green hydrogen takes renewable energy and uses the electricity to rip apart water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen. This method is currently more expensive than using methane and steam to produce hydrogen and CO2, but with more work we are bringing down the cost and bringing up the efficiency. Hydrogen does also have a global warming potential, which is why systems need to be designed very carefully to avoid accidental release of hydrogen
