Not really. I’ve been working as a scientist for over 30 years. In that time, I’ve worked in 8 jobs in 5 companies in 2 countries. There are things I am sure I could have done better but many times, there is more to learn when things go wrong. There are always new things to learn, mainly about science but also about working with people both inside and outside of the company.
I think I would probably want to learn more computer programming. Also, I would always recommend having honest discussions with your manager about what you want from your career as they are the ones that can help you get where you want to go
I don’t have big regrets. I am quite happy with my career path so far and, even though some parts could have been better, I feel I have really learnt from them.
The actual job no.
All my regrets are from how I have interacted with people. I’ve said the wrong thing at the wrong time, had disagreements, and burst into tears from frustration. With hindsight I’ve thought of ways that I could have handled it better. I hope that I have learnt from my mistakes.
