      Yes. It’s a type of polymer, a natural type of plastic, called a polynucleotide. It is made from 4 building blocks, monomers, also known as bases, adenine, thymine, guanine and cytosine. These monomers pair up to make a double strand of each polymer, the “double helix”. The polymer carries genetic information, instructions for the growth, reproduciton and characteristics of many living things.
