I found my role relatively easily, but that was luck – I was finishing up my doctorate and an advert was sent around my university department looking for someone with nearly exactly my skills. I applied and got the job after a couple of interviews.
i was lucky i think. i came into my role after 1st working for an agency and then being offered a permanent position. ive heard since that the direct interviews are alot harder to pass
but science in general no i wouldnt say its hard to find a job. ive worked for several smaller labs and companies you wouldnt think of often have a small lab for quality control even if science isnt really there field if expertise so theres quite a few hidden jobs out there
I was lucky. I have skills in calculating environmental impacts which are in much demand but not many people have them. So when I was made redundant 2 years ago (my company decided to move my job to a different country) it was easy to find a new one.
