I am originally Italian but moved away from my hometown when I was 8 years old. Since then, I lived in the Netherlands and in the UK. I speak Italian, English and Spanish, and would like to learn more languages. I enjoy spending time outdoors doing all sorts of sports: rock climbing, running, kite-surfing and sailing. I also play basketball with my friends. I like eating good food from different countries, and I’m always keen to try new food.

I loved science in school because it helped me understand how the world works. I liked chemistry the most as it explains what things are made of and how they are made. In school, chemistry was always done in a small lab, but in reality, there are huge industrial sites where all the things we use in our daily lives are made: from chocolate bars, to washing up liquid, to biodegradable plastic.
When I learned about this, I became worried about the impact of these huge industrial sites on our planet. In my job as a chemical engineer, I use a combination of chemistry, physics, biology and maths to figure out how to produce the things we use in our daily lives in a more environmentally-friendly way. This means using less energy and fewer materials to make the things we need.

My Typical Day:
I wake up, have breakfast (porridge and tea) and prepare my packed lunch. I get to work at 8:30am, where I work together with my team to understand the impact of my company on the planet. This involves lots of calculations and problem-solving. I have lunch with my friends, and continue working in the afternoon until 5pm.
