      > Why do you like being a scientist?

Being a scientist is a bit like being in charge of ‘the truth’. We have to use science to find out what’s real, what works and what can be proven to work time and time again. We don’t like dealing with things that aren’t testable or repeatable. I like being a scientist because I get to deal with all sorts of exciting ways to find out ‘the truth’.

      > and why do you like working with science?

Working with science is very rewarding because you get to do experiments with cool machines, and find useful answers to important questions like ‘can we cure cancer’.

I like working with science, as part of the job description is the ability to experiment. In computing this is trying new things, or develpoing something that has not been done before. I worked at Hitachi before Diamond and I did not have this freedom.

Computer science is a little different from the other science that happens at Diamond. Some might say I work with computers and I am not a proper scientist. This is possibly true, I do not have mad hair and wear a lab coat. But I enjoy the freedom to experiment, also its great to be working with some of the best people in the country in terms of what they do.

      Hi Evellyn

I like being a scientist because I like finding out about new things and different topics too. I also like the fact that science can really help solve problems and make life better, from the life-saving things like new medicines to just making life more fun, like better tasting chocolate!

I also have a short attention span, so it’s important that I see new things all the time or I get bored! 😆

      Hello Evellyn!

I like being a scientist because I have the chance to do innovative things every day and I hope that the result of my work will have a positive impact on others.

I like working with science mostly because I am a very curious person and I enjoy learning new stuff every day and understanding how Nature works.

      Cheers

      Hello!

As any scientist, I am a very curious person and I love to find out how stuff works. When I was a kid, I was always coming up with plenty of questions. For instance, when I was listening to music I was wondering how is that possible that sound/music/voices can be recorded on a plastic disk, like a CD, isn’t it weird?

So now, as a scientist, my job is all about to find out how stuff work
      and I really love that.

Moreover, when I was a teenager, I used to play electric guitar in a rock band and we used to write and play our own songs. I loved to be creative and came up with new ideas for our music. As a scientist, I am still doing the same. Obviously, I don’t have an electric guitar in my hands any more, but I have a computer and a microscope. Apart from that, I have still to use a lot my creativity and imagination either to come up with new ideas or to find solutions to some specific problems.

Why do I like working with science?
The very thing I like about it is that I learn something new every day. Nature and technology work in amazing ways and it is so cool to find out more about them every day.
