Hello! My name is Charlotte and I work for Northumbria Police as a Cyber Prevent Officer. I have worked for Northumbria Police for almost five years. When I’m cooking, I like to try cooking new recipes from all over the world trying new tastes and flavours. I have always been a big fan of dogs and would like to have my own one day…although it would need to be small one as I don’t think I would be strong enough to walk a big one!

I work for Northumbria Police as a Cyber Prevent Officer in the Cyber Crime Team. In my job, I work with young people to educate them on how to use their tech skills safely and correctly. Some of these tech skills might include online gaming, coding and programming. I also explain what fantastic cyber jobs are out there that need these skills!
I also help to keep older people safe online and help them keep their online accounts safe.

My Typical Day:
It all really depends! There isn’t really a typical day which makes the job so interesting!

It all really depends! There isn’t really a typical day which makes the job so interesting!
One day I might be educating a young person around online boundaries, showing them how to use their technology skills safely and then on another day I might be helping someone who has had their social media account hacked.
-
Education:
I started off at school then went to sixth form and finally University.
-
Qualifications:
GCSEs
A-Levels in English, History, Busines Studies and a BTEC in ICT
Digital Forensics Degree
-
Work History:
During sixth form I had a weekend job where I worked in a big clothes shop. This was really useful in building up skills such as communication, team work and organisation.
After University I worked as an Information Security Consultant where I would help businesses who had been hacked. I then joined Northumbria Police and now work in the Cyber Team!
-
Current Job:
My current job is all about educating young people who are “tech savvy” and showing them that all the skills and knowledge they have around IT and Cyber are needed in lots of jobs! Some young people who are clever with technology can get into trouble online if they don’t use their skills safely so we help to stop that from happening. I’ve included a link to a great video to show you what I mean:
