I was always interested in how things worked, in particular the human body. My parents are both doctors so I had an early exposure to lots of science. I would sometimes visit them after school when they were working and watch them and because of that biology just really fascinated me from a young age!

Probably my mum. I’ve always been interested in how things work. My mum would always try and answer my questions. If she didn’t know the answer we’d go to the library and look it up (this was before the Internet, shock horror!)

My A-level physics teacher was the person who got me interested in science. He taught me that science could actually be really fun, and was really useful.

I was always interested in science – but I was better at maths. It was only when I found out that you could use maths to study biology (at 22!) that I really became interested though.
