• Question: How does maths contribute to your job/ your area in science?

      Thanks for the question.

      I use engineering in my everyday work and that involves quite a bit of maths! I also do a lot of computer programming/coding to analyse data which also requires mathematical skills.

      Hi Charlie and Mcvitie biscuit.

      That’s a great question. Maths is really the tool that we use to guess what will happen in our experiments and make predictions. We can design and model the experiment using the maths (and normally a PC) without requiring the time to build the entire setup. If it looks like it does the job we want then we normally move on to building the experiment and showing that our maths was right in the first place.
