I’ve always been interested in science. I don’t think I realised that I wanted to be a scientist until I thinking about what I wanted to do after I left school. I wanted to go to uni, but wasn’t sure what I wanted to study. It was my geography teacher who convinced me to study chemistry. She knew how much I loved chemistry despite the fact that I hated my teacher. She pointed out that if I could do that then it really was the subject that I liked, and that I’d be able to still enjoy it after years of studying it at uni. She is a very smart lady, and I’m grateful for her good advice.
