Love (for work) is doing something with passion – putting all your mind to what you are doing to achieve the end goal. Is this what you were asking about 🙂
It’s a feeling that can’t be explained or quantified. It can also play tricks on you- you can be convinced you love someone or something at one point in your life, but then looking back years later you can know that you didn’t- so does love evolve? Or is it just that we evolve? Love is everything- it’s a reason to get out of bed to do what you do, it’s a reason to have friendships and partners and children, to laugh, to live!
Whoa. Deep question there 🙂
I really REALLY wanted to carry on the lyrics from the song “what is love?” by Haddaway here but I think I might be met with glares from my other scientist colleagues and I’m not sure you guys know the song!
Love is such a complicated thing to explain because scientifically we have no grounding. We can talk about chemicals of the brain and attraction. We can talk about companionship… We can talk about fondness and desire. We can talk about passion.
Love, I would say is something that develops over time, possibly between two people, or people and concepts or people and objects… Of course people love their pets like family too.
Even love between people can be split down further. We have our family, our partners, our friends and even our rivalries! Each one is a different subtlety of humanity. It can be beautiful, it can be terrible. It can build you up and break you apart…
It’s important though that love should be healthy. Many people can confuse emotions like infatuation and obsession for love when they are much closer to envy. We all find love in our lives and it’s our job to keep it there!
