• Question: Why can some peoples voices go higher or lower than others?

      It’s to do with the tension in your vocal chords. Everyone is different, so I guess that it just depends on how you grow and how your muscles are arranged.

      I like to think of a voice box as guitar strings – you can change the note by changing their length (stretching or relaxing them). The important things for getting deep notes are the size of your voice box, and even more importantly, the size of your throat, lungs, mouth etc. If your voice box is like guitar strings, then these are your guitar. Deeper sounds will resonate through bigger instruments.

      Interestingly, men can usually produce higher notes than women can (as well as lower notes)
