• Question: When a Volcano errupts the surrounding water becomes slightly acidic in some films the water turns so acidic it kills people. Does the water really turn as acidic as they portray in films or does it gain few acidicy?

      I would be more worried about the heat of the water

      I doubt that it gets acidic enough to dissolve people, but the sulphur that’s released when a volcano erupts does turn the water into weak sulphuric acid which kills aquatic life.

      Yeah, I doubt the effect is as pronounced as Dante’s Peak (one of my favourite films), but I don’t know for sure.
