      Remarkably similar to here as far as I can tell. It takes a lot longer to do a PhD, during which you do a lot of teaching. There are also more people in the USA, which makes it easier to get lots of data for some studies.

      In South America, there is much less money and the Universities are not so well established, so there is a greater range in the quality of scientific output, although still there are lots of clever people.

      I’ve probably been to about 50 labs in the USA now and from what I seen, they are more interested in automating their experiments that people here seem to be (you see automatic data cllection much more often there than here). Otherwise, very similar.
