• Question: Do you think that in the future, people would use lasers more commonly? Like a laser to cut food... and would there have to be certain laws involving the use of them?

There are legal requirements and safety standards that laser manufacturers have to follow. If they don’t they get into trouble if someone gets hurt by mistake.

I doubt that we’ll use them to cut food because knives are simpler and work really well. Why complicate thngs?

To show off! Have you ever seen somebody open a bottle of champagne with a sword? It would be even cooler with a laser (and lots of bottles at the same time)

A laser could also be more hygienic than a knife, as you wouldn’t need to wash the beam! If they were sold for this, they would have to be set-up in a way that you couldn’t blind yourself. I’m sure this is possible and if you could do this I guess they wouldn’t be any more dangerous than a knife?
