      That is hard to say. Lasers is one of the most successful inventions in the 20th century. Also there are other scientific involutions changing the way we live, such as computers, biology and so on. So it is not easy to compare.

      GM farming has benefited many more people.

      I agree with the others. There are plenty of other things that are pretty amazing that were invented by scientists, like the internet and computers or modern medicine.
