0 Question: If a electric train was going down the tracks at 100mph from manchester to London which direction would the steam be going in? Keywords: steam, train Asked by 0mnomcookie to Ailsa, Evan, James, Kath, Ryan on 18 Jun 2011.
Ailsa Powell answered on 17 Jun 2011:
Well unless there is some kind of new electric/steam hybrid train that I’ve not heard of, there will be no steam because it’s an electric train.
Evan Keane answered on 18 Jun 2011:
A trick question! How sneaky! There is no steam from an electric train, only from steam trains. 😉
Ryan Ladd answered on 18 Jun 2011:
Even though the train is travelling 100mph steam (from a passenger’s cup of coffee inside the train!) would seem to rise mostly upwards but, relative to the Earth, the steam would be moving 100mph in the same direction of the train!
