Question: I understand that the Ocean Technologies Laboratory at the University is working on a project involving the study of how whales pick up ambient noise. What are you planning to use to replicate a Cetacean's inner ear?
I don’t think anyone is actually working on this research at the moment, unfortunately. We have a range of aquatic microphones and sonar equipment we use for these kind of studies though.
In a related subject, someone is researching how certain dolphins might be using their jaw bones to sense sound in water which might lead to a really sensitive microphone!
