• Question: How can you tell if a person has malaria?

      The symptoms of Malaria include…

      a high temperature (fever) of 38°C (100.4F) or above
      sweats and chills
      generally feeling unwell
      muscle pains
      headaches
      cough
      diarrhoea

      with the fever coming in cycles every few days.

      The person also has to have been somewhere where they could have been bitten by a mosquito that carries the malarial parasite, so broadly speaking they would have recently been to one of the following places – South America, Africa, the Indian sub-continent and the Far East.
