• Question: Is the VY Canis Majoris the largest star to exist?

      VY Canis Majoris is a very very big star nearly 1500 times bigger than the sun. UY scutti is even bigger though!

    It’s really hard to get your head around how big these monster stars are. They’re so big they’d swallow up Jupiter in our solar system! They’re not very dense, though. By that, I mean you probably wouldn’t really be able to feel anything at the edge of these stars if you waved your hand through it!
