Hi Sophie. The brain needs more energy to function than any other part of your body. It’s hard work doing all that thinking! We get a lot of our energy from sugar, so we need sugar for a healthy brain. However, just like anything, you can have too much of a good thing. If you eat too much sugar, it can make your brain slower and unable to form memories. It can also lead to long-term psychological problems like depression. Have you ever heard of a ‘sugar crash’ where you feel all drained of energy a little while after a sugar-binge? Imagine that feeling all the time 🙁

So the moral is: sugar is fine, but not too much!
