I guess that depends what you believe.
I believe in evolution so originally there were cells which over millions of years evolved in to simple animals. Then more complex animals that gave birth to live young and had brains. Eventually evolving in to primates with ‘higher’ brain functions and finally humans.
I’m pretty sure the first humans were pretty different to what we are now, we’ll keep evolving to adapt best to our environment.

Humans evolved from creatures that were a bit like monkeys. Our ancestors are also the ancestors of the great apes (chimps and gorillas). About three and half million years ago these monkey-like creatures evolved into Australopithecus afarensis which is the earliest example of a hominid (the family of species that includes humans). Over the next 3.2 million years new species of hominid appeared including Homo erectus and Homo habilis. As recently as 200 000 years ago the first modern humans (Homo sapiens) appeared.

Most of human evolution has been very slow taking thousands and thousands of years. Some people think we have stopped evolving because we control our environment and medicine to control disease. I disagree as the way we live is changing so fast that our bodies are sure to change to. 50 years ago we didn’t have computers and other gadgets, we ate less food and worked harder physically. I think that over the next few thousand years we could turn into big fat blobs with massive brains and eyes.
