I chose marine biology because it was an interesting subject, and for the very same reason I chose my job as an airspace data analyst because it is interesting!

I did not stop doing marine biology for any particular reason. I finished my undergraduate degree, my masters degree and then PhD, which meant I had been studying for 8 years! I was ready for something new. When I was trying to decide what to do, I realised that what I had really enjoyed about my time studying marine biology wasn’t so much the subject itself (though that was very cool too!!) but the way that doing science made me approach the world with curiosity, to use data and numbers to problem solve, to build arguments with numbers to try and convince people. As such I decided to look at jobs not in the subject of marine biology but instead using the skills I liked best.

I like to think that anything can be interesting, if you approach it in the right way!
