I went to the University of Southampton to study marine biology. I studied for 4 years as a student, and then another 4 doing a PhD to become a doctor.
I studied at the Open University. It was difficult studying whilst working full time but I really enjoyed doing it. Unfortunately I think costs are now way too much.
Hi Tiana+Izzy, I studied at Glasgow Caledonian University and I loved it! I also did my masters degree at Strathcyde Uni but some of the classes I did were taught by other uni’s, so I have also been to Univerisity of Glasgow, Edinburgh and SAMS. I am now at Heriot Watt Uni! So I have been to almost everyone in Scotland, haha!
I always find this question interesting, as I have been to 3 universities! It’s really important to think about where might be best for the course or area you want to study, but also about location. Will you live at home, or go away? How far do you want to be from home? What are the transport links like to get there? Is it a big city or a campus university? Do you have a hobby which would be better if you could be close to mountains, the sea etc.?
I went to Manchester University – I was wowed by their amazing labs and resources – but I found it really big. A big city and a big course, with hundreds of people on my lectures and labs. I felt a bit lost, so I transferred to a smaller campus university for my second year – The University of Keele. Lectures were smaller and it felt more personal. There were also green spaces and hills which suited me more as a country girl! I then went to a different university – the University of Cambridge – to continue studying and do a PhD.
I went to the University of Aberdeen. I thoroughly enjoyed myself during my time at Uni: I learnt so much, the lecturers were amazing and Scotland is a beautiful place to live in.

Teesside University. This was close to where I live which allowed me to live at home. I loved Teesside and still do lots of work there !
