I’ve personally always enjoyed science, specifically biology and chemistry. I also really enjoyed Maths at school. I have also always enjoyed books or TV shows related to forensic science so I knew this was something that interested me.

I chose to study the more core Chemistry subjects at University as well as a forensics module so I could see the different aspects of chemistry. This also allowed me to keep my options open if I decided down the line that forensics wasn’t for me. I also decided to do a placement year in a forensic company as a sort of trial year. All through this I continued to enjoy forensics and knew I would want to work in a Forensic field.

I would recommend anything you are interested in, investigating it a little further and if possible seek out summer placement options, I believe that is something we offer where I work, and I am sure many other places do too. This gives you a great idea if it is something you may like to do full time career, or if you think something else may be more suited to you. The more places you are able to try the more you will understand what will interest you. A job is a large part of your life so it is important that it is something that interests you. But, it is also okay to try something and then change your mind in the future.
