Catherine Holt answered on 24 Apr 2023:
I think I would still want to be involved in science and technology but specialise in one area. Space weather is really interesting, working out how to protect satellites and systems on earth from solar flares. Work is being done towards having a forecasting system like we do for normal weather, and that will really help protect us and space assets.

I’ve actually got more than one job (I know, how greedy!). I’ve always been interested in lots of different things, so I spend my time being a scientist, teaching children and training grown ups too!
If I didn’t do any of these things, I might have been a vet or a medical doctor… or maybe an archaeologist! (quite science-y still!)

If I could choose anything at all, I’d probably go into videogame artificial intelligence development. There’s something magical about making a character on the screen act intelligently.

Being a scientist involves quite a bit of thinking, planning and looking at computer screens. If I didn’t do my job I would love something that gets me outside in nature and moving a lot. I’d still love to be a postman, or dog walker!

If I wasn’t a scientist, I would’ve been a civil engineer. In my undergraduate days, I wanted to join the United Nations aid programme and help communities that lack access to basic needs such as housing and clean water.

I think I’d like to be a pilot. I like travelling and flying on planes and I’d get to travel to so many interesting places! I’m also really interested in planes so it would be great to learn more about them.
