I’m quite idealistic. I hope my research can be used to influence transport policy and peoples decision making meaning we rely less on cars and more on sustainable transport solutions.

I want to help build a society in which the wealth of your parents doesn’t have such a strong influence on your chances in life.

In short term, I hope to contribute to our understanding of when and why teenagers take risks using a bunch of different research techniques. If we can understand this, then we can help steer people away from negative types of risk taking and onto more positive types of risk taking.

In the long term, I would like to work with the government and the youth justice system to change how we work with young offenders. I think to reduce youth crime, we should focus on psychological factors that can lead teenagers to commit crimes in the first place.

I’d like for my research to make a real difference to people’s lives. Some of the work I have been doing has been exploring some of the factors that might prevent people with learning disabilities from accessing and using the Internet. I’d like to hope that through publishing this research we can raise awareness around some of the barriers and that this might impact on government policy decisions to make things easier for them

In the long term, I’m hoping my research will give us a better idea of why and how we are persuaded (especially in sales interactions) with the ultimate aim of figuring out how to resist these influence attempts.
