      I think that I had some luck in getting into the research I do. I didn’t always know what I was interested in and so it was only by trying different jobs that I realised I was interested in researching teenage risk taking. It was my choice to take the different opportunities but I didn’t necessarily choose this path knowing how it would end up!

      Yes, it was very much my own decision, but I suppose also on some level we also make these types of decisions to get the approval of other people and we can’t help but be influenced by our upbringing. I probably wouldn’t have gone to University for example without the encouragement of my Dad and without going to University the types of opportunities that opened up to me would not have happened.
