Well, hard to say too much intelligent about that because I’ve not had any experience of a mixed secondary school…

But I would say that (from talking to other people who went to mixed schools), girls tend to choose to do more science/maths subjects in an all girls school because there isn’t the ‘typical’ split between science being a ‘boy’ thing and English and history being a ‘girl’ thing.
Plus we found when we did events with other schools that we tended to speak out a lot more in group situations compared to girls from mixed schools…

But my school was really good at pushing us to think about what we wanted to do with our lives and telling us that we could if we wanted and worked hard enough – so I’ve always felt I *could* be a scientists or a mathematician even though, even today, most physicists and mathematicians are men. Biology and medicine has a much more even gender split!

Not sure if I’ve answered what you wanted to know?
