• Question: what facinates you so much about illnesses?

      Hi Harriet,

      good question… it’s not illnesses that fascinate me really (if they were, i think i’d be a biologist or a medical doctor).

      But what is it that does fascinate me? I think it’s that a hospital is a very complex place and lots of things need to work well together to treat even one patient (e.g. going to your local doctor, to then seeing a consultant, then booking in for surgery, finding the best slot for that surgery, making sure all the staff are in place, making sure there’s a bed afterwards and nurses and doctors to look after you, that all the medicines are in place and the right dose etc)… maths can really help make it all run smoothly and working out ways of doing that is what fascinates me…

      does that make sense?
