• Question: I'm really annoyed that I can't participate in the live chat :( but have you done any science communication work (other than this) with children/teenagers?

Some friends and I raced maggots with primary school children (As in, the children were there too, there weren’t in the race!).

Maggots are amazing, they feed on dead flesh and can be used to clean wounds!

I love to do science communication as much as I can!
Yesterday I was in a school showing Year 10 and 6th formers some machines us chemists use every day! The university also does days where students can come into the university labs where its great to talk to the teachers and students. Open days and things like that are always great at engaging with younger people!

      Hi spacenut,

I’ve done quite a few school talks (maybe 10-15 talks ?) – mainly to a-level students and sometimes students in last year of gcse… i talk either about my work and try to make maths relevant or i talk about what it’s like to study maths or physics at university and what sort of careers they can lead to…

I’ve also given quite alot of mock university interviews to students to help them prepare!
