• Question: Would you recommend an apprenticeship or university?

      It depends what you want to do! If you would like to become an academic scientist, the route is still university. But if you want to work in an industrial lab, there are definitely some apprenticeship options. The others may have some more details.

      Both have their advantages and disadvantages. University is the traditional route for most sciences, there are a few apprenticeships out there mainly in the industrial setting, were you can start as a technician/support staff then work your way up. I would definitely recommend university course with industrial placements, it make you more employable when you finish your degree and you get to see science in a practical setting – some university courses can be very lecture based and practical session can be limited

      Yes, totally depends what you want to do. For some jobs, you do need university and its definitely worth going. However, for other jobs, this won’t add much (and may cost a lot of money), so worth investigating apprenticeships too.

      Agreed! If you definitely know what you want to go into then apprenticeships are great.
