I do a job which uses science every day, but I never knew my kind of job existed until i sort of fell into it! There are so many jobs you can do related to science and I wanted to spread the word (plus I know one of the organisers and he asked me to do it!)

One of my colleagues sent me the link to sign up and I thought it was a fun idea. When I was at school I didn’t really know what it was to be a scientist until I got to visit a lab and speak to researchers. I’m happy to talk about my job because people often don’t understand what we actually do, so it’s important that we get out of the lab (even through an internet chat) and explain it.

I really enjoy talking about science. It’s also so satisying when you help other people understand things more clearly, especially if they get that eureka moment!

It sounded like a fun thing to do. I have done a number of different stem events and I find kids have such varied and interesting questions. Sometimes they can ask things you have never even considered before. I didn’t have much career advice growing up, so I think they opportunity to talk to real scientist and get their opinions and advice is really beneficial.
