I am not religious so that doesn’t directly apply to me. Some of my colleagues are, I’ve have not noticed that it prevents them from doing anything in particular in their job.
Ethics in general are a very important aspect of research. You have to ask yourself if your experiments are justified, if they are designed in a way that is the least harmful. That is especially true when you work with animals, or with human tissues (I use human blood for example). In these cases you have to have your studies approved by an Ethics Committee before you are allowed to experiment. And then you have to be objective when you analyse your results, you have to make sure that you are interpreting the results correctly rather than be influenced by something you might believe in, or something that you would like to be true.
