• Question: How many types of cells are included in the immune system?

      There are a lot of different types and subtypes and we keep finding new ones. But as a rough overview, I’d say there are lymphocytes (B and T), neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils, monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, NK cells… you can further divide each type into a lot of smaller types.
      And then there are cells that have a role in immunity but are not necessarily thought of as immune cells. I’d list platelets, some epithelial cells… I’m sure the others will find that I’ve forgotten some cell types.
