My school never had a science fair. I did win a project at university presenting a poster about my research. My research investigated the beneficial effects of antioxidant in food (like green tea and red wine). I presented a poster titles ‘Curry and a Pint’ I explained the beneficial effects of this popular dish. Compounds like curcumin is found in the spice turmeric and quercetin are found in onions and tomatoes and phenolic acids found in beers/ciders. I even made my graphs in the shapes of pint glasses and onions.

I once won a regional chemistry competition at school, there was a quiz and some experiments but I can’t remember the details. I didn’t do too well at the national competition, but it was fun.

No, I’ve never taken part in a science fair – we didn’t do them at my school. Good luck if you are taking part – it sounds fun! (nice try for getting ideas though…)
