      Hmmmm I think my science hero is Alexander Flemming – I mean he ACCIDENTLY discovers a drug that saves millions of lives just because he has a bit of a messy lab bench!!! Then not only does he make the discovery/observation but he goes on to identify the active compound too. Brilliant. You can still visit his intact lab near Paddington. It is a museum now!

      I am not really sure I have any heros. At a push probably someone who did something for social justice rather than science like Emily Pankhurst getting the votes for Women or Aneurin Beven for setting up the welfare state.
