Wow i don’t know I’d have to have a look. Could you study maths and then do drama on top of that – join a drama society at uni or do it in the evening?
I don’t know if there are, but I would recommend you choose one or the other because it doesn’t sound like a great combination to me. Of these two a degree is really helpful in Maths, but lots of successful artists, directors etc. manage without degrees in the subject (it seems to me). However, if you decide on Drama, you might like to go to Uni anyway, because it is a LOT of fun.
Unfortunately, you have to start choosing your subjects if they clash with one another and the choices can be important. For instance, if you do single science at GCSE you will not be able to do a science A-level which means it would be very difficult to get onto a science degree course and you’d be ruled out of most of the top science Universities.
I was into music as a teenager and I managed to earn a little money from it at one point and still do it as a hobby. So even though I didn’t study music, I am still doing it and getting a lot of pleasure from it. If I was a bit better maybe I could even make some money.
I can’t resist showing you this YouTube clip of my brother Olly who is a professor at the University of Geneva developing new drugs for AIDS prevention, a top scientist who has published in the world’s top journal (can you tell how proud I am?). He’s the singer – the band rehearse every week and play every couple of weeks. People pay to see – they haven’t a clue what his day job is. You don’t have to give up on your dreams and ambitions when you choose science.
That is an unusual combination! At Imperial (and the Royal Coll of Music down the road) you can study Physics and Music but I’ve never heard of Maths and Drama.
What is your career goal – a part on “The Big Bang Theory?” 😉
